Tattoo After Care

  • Remove the bandage after an hour and wash your tattoo in warm water with anti-bacterial soap, using just your fingertips (make sure your hands are clean)

  • Wash your tattoo at least 2-3 times a day.

  • After washing your tattoo, let it air dry or pat it dry with a clean towel and apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor. If your tattoo looks shiny, you used too much. You can apply this throughout the day between washes if the tattoo begins to dry.

  • After 3 to 6 days, the tattoo will begin to flake or peel. Be sure to let it peel on its own. Do not scratch or pick it.

  • After 5 days, or once your tattoo has begun peeling, stop using ointment and switch to a non-scented lotion(Aveeno, Lubriderm, etc). You can also use shea or cocoa butter or coconut oil. Again, keep this with you and apply it throughout the day.

For the first two weeks:

  • Do not let the tattoo get dry. This could cause it to scab and pull ink out.

  • Do not pick at or scratch your tattoo. You can pat or slap it if it begins to itch.

  • Do not submerge your tattoo underwater. No swimming or hot tubs(showers are fine), ocean, or lake water.

  • Do not tan or expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight. Once it is healed, be sure to always use sunscreen in your tattoo when you're in the sun. This will ensure the longevity of your tattoo.

  • Be careful of clothing rubbing against your tattoo and drying it out or irritating it. Please call or stop by the shop if you have any issues or questions about your healing your new tattoo.

  • We also sell after-care products at the studio. Feel free to ask us about after your tattoo session
